Polio: An American Story by David M. Oshinsky | Non-Fiction Book Club In-Person
Join us for our first book group meeting of the Spring semester! Feel free to bring your lunch; drinks and dessert will be provided. We will be discussing David M. Oshinsky's Polio: An American Story.
Several copies of the book have been requested, and are now available to pickup at the library.
We are planning to hold this event in-person in the library, but if conditions necessitate a switch to virtual, we will send all registered attendees a Zoom link.
About the book:
"Both a gripping scientific suspense story and a provocative social and cultural history, Polio opens a fresh window onto postwar America." -- from the book jacket
Oshinsky "vividly retells one of the greatest of all American success stories and reveals the clash of egos and interests, science and salesmanship that made it possible. Its fresh details will fascinate both those too young to remember polio's scourge and those of us who experienced it firsthand." -- Geoffrey C. Ward
